Star ratings are a notoriously unreliable indicator of the overall experience you’ll find when staying at a hotel, bed and breakfast or other accommodation. In deed, some of the best nights BigVillage has spent while travelling have been in establishments without any star rating; some of the most disappointing have been in high rating hotels.
So how to ensure that you have the experience you’ve been hoping for? Or better still, to have an experience that exceeds your expectations? Asking a friend for a recommendation is always a good idea. That’s what you get with BigVillage listings.
Members' experiences
BigVillage members have chosen each listing and written of their personal experience. Their reviews are necessarily subjective but we hope they're fair and reasonable, and more importantly, informative. We ask our members to recommend businesses that stand above the crowd, either in terms of experience or value, or both.
We check & confirm
When we can – provided we have correct contact details – we contact the business and invite owners to check that key information is correct. This information includes the name, address, phone number, and hours of operation. There is no cost for this service.
Premium listings
For an additional fee businesses can choose to take an expanded listing which allows them to add photographs, add links to their website and provide information such as features, directions on how to find them and attractions in their area.
Independent
The review section is not able to be modified and remains totally independent. BigVillage does not accept listings from owners or operators.
